Trends come and go in waves. Sometimes we long for times gone by, for example the safe time of our childhood. We surround ourselves with retro furniture, accessories, clothing and glasses. This year it’s the turn of the nineteen sixties. The Sweet Sixties.
Psychedelic, deliciously colourful and definitely flashy. The sixties was the time of pop culture, with the invention of the mini skirt and busy patterns on the wallpaper. We wanted to rebel against the quiet fifties. Now we once again find ourselves in a period of civil disobedience. We want to speak our minds much more forcefully. With colourful clothing and striking accessories.
Our houses are also going back to the nineteen sixties. Think about wooden furniture, pastel colours, busy patterns, kidney-shaped tables and copper. It’s in the details too: brightly coloured, transparent glasses in light purple, orange or pink shades, mixed with stone vases with blue and white patterns.
We’re also seeing the sixties flourish in eyewear fashion. Think about hippie-like glasses with pink lenses, obviously the butterfly or cat eye glasses. Oversized is allowed and opt for either black or colourful. This will result in a great geeky look.
