King’s Day Cocktails

This year we celebrate King’s Day at home. Make this day extra festive by drinking a royal orange cocktail with your relatives or roommates. We present 3 colourful cocktails.

TEQUILA OLD FASHIONED

For this cocktail you don’t need much: just Don Julio Reposado Agave Tequila, agave syrup, Angostura bitters and a nice piece of orange peel to garnish the Tequila Old Fashioned. The garnish not only adds flavor but also a regal identity to this younger brother of the Old Fashioned, using tequila instead of whisky.

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 ml Don Julio Reposado Agave Tequila
  • 5 ml agave syrup
  • 2 drops Angostura bitter
  • 1 orange zest

PREPARATION

  1. Fill a whisky glass with ice cubes.
  2. Add all ingredients and stir.
  3. Garnish with the orange zest.

PENICILLIN

In these corona times it is good to give yourself a Penicillin treatment. The smoky spicy blend of whisky, ginger and honey is just the remedy you need.

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 ml Johnnie Walker Red Label Whisky
  • 30 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 20 ml ginger syrup
  • 5 ml honey
  • 1 drop Angostura Bitters
  • 5 ml smoky Scotch Whisky
  • 1 orange zest

PREPARATION

  1. Shake all ingredients except for the smoky whisky and the orange zest.
  2. Strain into a whisky glass filled with ice cubes.
  3. Drizzle the smoky whisky on top and garnish with orange zest.

DARK ‘N STORMY

Spicy, strong and fresh. The Dark ‘n Stormy is indeed apparently storm in a glass due to the layering. Refreshing with the ginger beer and lime juice, this cocktail will cheer you up. The Dark ‘N Stormy can no longer be ignored from all good cocktail menus and from this year on it cannot be ignored on King’s Day either.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 45 ml Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
  • 1/2 lime
  • 120 ml ginger beer
  • 1 splash Angostura bitters
  • Whisky glasses

PREPARATION:

  1. Fill a glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the rum and squeeze half a lime on top.
  3. Top up with ginger beer and stir briefly.
  4. Garnish with the used lime half and drizzle some Angostura bitters on top.
